Fog generation systems
In order for the fog to be efficiently formed and sprayed, the right equipment is needed. Its selection depends on your goals and location features, since the size of the droplets in the device can be 5-30 microns, and the power and other technical parameters of the system also vary.
Fog generation systems are divided into two main types:
· high pressure systems;
· low pressure systems.
We will tell in detail about the peculiarities of each of the systems, their components, as well as areas where it is rational to apply them.
High pressure misting systems
These systems have a key element that distinguishes them from others – a pump with a pressure of 65-120 atmospheres.This equipment is universal and easy enough to install on any site, so it can be used in almost every place. What does the system consist of:
· Filter – a household filter is usually used by mechanical cleaning. When operating heavily polluted water (for example, from an artificial well), it is recommended to carry out periodic cleaning with the help of special chemicals or acetic acid.
· High–pressure pumps are plunger or membrane. Plungers are used more often, so they have greater reliability, but they are very noisy when working. Diaphragm pumps are quieter and more budget-friendly in this regard, however, they are less durable and durable in operation. In addition, each pump type has its own additional equipment (timers, valves, etc.) corresponding to its type.
· Nozzles are an element of the system directly responsible for spraying, the size of droplets and the rate of mist formation per minute.All this depends on the diameter of the nozzle, and other parts of the injectors. They are made of nickel-plated brass, stainless steel, ceramics and other combinations of materials.
· Fittings – used for connections and installation of additional elements of the system, can be clamping or quick-release.
· Main and auxiliary pipelines are made of polyamide, polyethylene, nickel–plated brass, stainless steel. Depending on the place of use, different pipe diameters are selected.
Areas of application
High-pressure misting systems are successfully used in many industries. They are used for:
· additional humidification of the air,
· dust control,
· space/room cooling,
· elimination of insects and midges,
· cooling of specific objects (large machinery, electronics), for example, outdoor units of industrial air conditioners,
· elimination of unpleasant odors,
· in landscape design as a decorative element.
Low pressure misting systems
In this type of fog-forming equipment, two subspecies are also distinguished, in one of them spraying occurs
For systems based on rotating discs, droplet sizes of 25-40 microns are characteristic. They are used only in duet with fans. Most often, such systems are an inexpensive option or a low-cost substitute for a high-pressure cooling system.
Systems where water is sprayed with the help of injectors, in general, resemble fog-forming equipment with high pressure in their design. However, here the pump pressure is 3-35 atmospheres.Because of this, it is impossible to create a drop of less than 25 microns, and in many areas such large drops are not applicable. At temperatures above +35, the systems have a good cooling effect. In general, they are suitable for creating a microclimate in any industry, where the accumulation of condensate or a slight settling of droplets on the surface will be uncritical.
In some cases, these systems can work without a pump at all, they can be connected directly to the water supply. Their advantage is low price and easy installation. Therefore, in many industries, this option will be preferred to more expensive high-pressure systems.
Application areas
Systems of fog formation by low pressure pumps are used:
· in production, where humidification, cooling, dust suppression is necessary;
· for irrigation in combination with high-pressure systems (since this method is more cost-effective);
· in various fields of agriculture (in greenhouses, for hydroponics), animal husbandry and poultry farming (to create the right microclimate), for growing mushrooms, as well as in retail for moistening fish.
As you can see, fog systems are useful and are used everywhere in various types of industry.The main thing is to choose the right system and equipment for effective and short-lived work.
