Cooling by fog formation of air conditioning systems: chillers, cooling towers and draycoolers

Cooling by fog formation of air conditioning systems: chillers, cooling towers and draycoolers

During the summer period, the efficiency of most air conditioning systems is significantly reduced, the temperature of the refrigerant that circulates in the heat exchangers and condensers of the chiller or cooler increases. This leads to a significant increase in energy consumption and a reduction in the service of the system. The higher the air temperature outside, the higher the costs of cooling the premises.

Adiabatic cooling for the chiller by the mist system solves the problem of overheating of the refrigerant, the condenser of the draycooler and the heat exchanger of the dry cooling tower. The cooling system starts working more efficiently and consumes significantly less electricity. When using a fog generation system for pre-cooling of air conditioning units, it allows you to significantly save on the costs of functioning the cooling system of buildings.

Thanks to fine-dispersed spraying of water by a heat exchanger, it is possible to reduce the temperature of the refrigerant by 8-12 0With.This makes it possible to increase the refrigeration effect by almost a third and reduce energy consumption several times.

 The use of misting systems for cooling chillers and dry coolers allows you to:

· reduce energy consumption for cooling systems by 25-30%;

· pay off the fog precooling kit in 1.5-2 months of work;

· the cooling effect improves by 15-25% in the hot season;

· reduce the load on the main components of air conditioning systems, i.e. prolong the service life as a whole.

The scheme of functioning of precooling by fog on the example of a chiller

The water from the water pipe passes through the water treatment system and enters the pumpnozzles that spray it into the air stream in front of the draycooler or the condenser.

For cooling of refrigerating machines, high-pressure misting systems are used.

Why do I need to use a high-pressure humidification system?

The efficiency of cooling depends on the diameter of the resulting droplets. The smaller the droplets, the faster they dissolve in the air flow, and the less likely it is that moisture will appear on the surface of the heat exchanger. Abundant moisture noticeably worsens the heat transfer of the condenser and the draycooler, therefore, the condensation process becomes more difficult.

Medium and low pressure systems produce large drops, so their use is effective only on hot days. The high-pressure system, the nozzles of which are located at a distance of 20-50 cm from the heat exchanger, sprays the smallest drops up to 5 microns. Such drops evaporate almost instantly, do not leave streaks on the walls of the equipment, thereby do not interfere with the heat transfer of the condenser and the draycooler

The main elements of high pressure misting systems are:

· high pressure pump,

· filters for water,

· high-pressure main and auxiliary pipelines,

· clamping,quick-release, threaded and reduction fittings,

· spraying nozzles,

· control unit of the spray system,

· fasteners, etc. accessories according to the project

If we talk about the average efficiency indicators of typical air—cooled chillers, a decrease in the condenser air temperature by 6 °C will lead to an improvement in efficiency by 14%, and a decrease by 12 ° C will lead to an improvement by 25-30%. This is due to the fact that high—pressure misting systems have low specific costs for spraying water - 3.5-4 watts per kg.

Adiabatic pre-cooling of the cooler with an air-cooled condenser today is the most energy-efficient solution to the problem of reducing the load on the positioning systems of shopping and entertainment establishments, hotels and supermarkets.

The use of fog generation systems for additional cooling of heat exchangers of air conditioning systems is an easy way to reduce costs by saving electricity and reducing the load on equipment.
